I have to disagree with you, Le politico.
People already know the attacks all to well and this will only serve as a negative against the sliding numbers in Quebec for the Tories.
Remember, we're the ones with the perception of being mean spirited (Ritz), cold hearted (Arts funding cuts) and suffering from an "empathy deficit". Not sure how anybody in our camp thought it was a good idea to go more neg on a situation that was self-explanatory.
Plus, the numbers didn't move a bit after the hockey clip, actually, they moved in Dion's favour. This is all about salvaging seats now for all three parties.
I posted this before the CPC came out and talked about it.
I agree with you NBT that CPC et al probably should not have said anything, and let it be a CTV vs. Liberal thing.
Some things you let the blogs spread, and when asked you take the high road.
That said, there is some legitimacy in pointing out that at its core it wasn't really a language issue, Dion just really didn't have a good answer.
It's a language issue. If you were PM what would you have already done?
Try translating that into french.
If you were PM would would you do...sure, that's the expected question.
If you had been PM what would you have done differently. He probably would have understood that.

I doubt it. He just didn't have an answer and got flustered. I hate to say it, but if you're a good politician, you don't need to know the question to have an answer..that's what speaking points are for.
Jack Layton would never be caught in a similar situation, no matter how unclear the question..he would just rant on about the kitchen table, etc.
